Appreciating the Simplicity and Relaxation of Baby’s Bath Time It’s the end of the day. I’m tired… no, I’m exhausted. I mommied it up extra hard today. Pancakes, home school lessons, laundry, baby clothes, errands, baby safety, swim lessons, more errands, baby care, breaking up sibling arguments, dinner… and oh yeah, dinner. It feels like the day that never ends. Yes, it goes on and on my friends. Then bedtime creeps closer and I’m doing a happy dance up the stairs. But first, bath time.AdvertisementAfter the oldest two have bathed, dressed, and brushed their teeth, it’s off to their bedroom for quiet time to wait for bedtime stories. Now it’s time to give Z her bath, and I’m ready for some quiet and relaxation. This little gal adores the water. No, she’s more like obsessed with water. You’d think her home birth was a water birth, but I assure you it wasn’t. When it’s time for her bath, she’s as happy as a clam. With the addition of bubbles, oh baby, she’s on cloud nine. So we sit there, me and my Baby Z. She happily plays and splashes the day’s cares away while I finally get to sit and take a breather.I’m taken back to the days of when I was younger and my oldest sister would give me bubble baths and style my hair crazy with the suds. I think about how Z used to be so tiny in her little bathtub as a newborn, and now here she sits before me, a confident and independent toddler that can tell me her preferred water temperature. She splashes while I chill. I almost can’t hear the older two squabbling about who will have their story read first. It doesn’t take a lot to impress Z during bath time. A tub of water and her little water cup keep her occupied the entire time. The sound of the water splashing around her is as close as I’ll get to the sound of ocean waves during these final weeks of my pregnancy. My nesting has been in overdrive, and I’ve been obsessive about things being clean. During bath time, I get to let that go. It doesn’t get any cleaner than water and bubbles. I’m able to relax and truly just sit and enjoy the moment.Z is my most peaceful bathing beauty. Witnessing her happiness and serenity in the water are exactly what I need at the end of a long and tiring day. http://mortenpartiet.org/modules/weblog/details.php?blog_id=429 http://ultimate.ro/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=68366 http://forumnokia.pl/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=37883 http://nde-clanserver.de/forum/index.php?action=showthread&id=6523#p1
