These updates, mind you, aren’t plain bug fixes and continue to supply new game modes and maps with Valve completely overhauling the game’s core since 2007. It has refocused the concept of the 3D platformer in a manner which is unique since the mid-Nineties, reinventing this genre with simple fun that once upon a time made 2D side-scrollers so much more fun to play on the SNES and NES. It’s a game that has been created for fun and is not for the serious. #12 Red Dead Redemption (2010) Majestic is the single word that can be safely used to describe Red Dead Redemption which saw the light in 2010. It’s a more mature game with cover-shooting at close quarters which makes it endlessly satisfying and greatly cinematic. It also has localized areas which are structured engagingly and are also set-piece friendly. But it’s the vastness of the wild countryside between these localities that makes the game more fun to play. You can regard it as an empty and vast canvas on which you can paint endless emergent images while galloping through the wild countryside that encompasses all areas. #11 Mass Effect 2 (2010) When Mass Effect 2 hit the market in 2010, it had a great start. This was because the Bioware space opera simply sucked many a hardened gamer into a sci-fi universe that was somewhat similar to Star Wars’ gaming version. The first version of Mass Effect was considered to be gaming’s version of A New Hope. Mass Effect 2, on the other hand, was something akin to Empire Strikes Back. Yes, the game does not boast of many fancy frills like being ‘realistic’ or being a 3D version, but it makes up for all that more than enough through its quintessential character and its pure blueprint. This Zelda game might be one of the early birds in the entire series whose later versions are topping the popularity charts these days, but it is the framework of this early bird that stands firm behind the fame the more recent Zelda games enjoy. #8 The Last of Us (2013) A game belonging to the generation of the 7th console, The Last of Us, with its fair share of a generic lead character and a zombie infested narrative, makes avid gamers feel their every action. Such is the connect of this game that you feel one with the characters in it to the extent that every tragedy and pain they face, becomes yours. A dark story The Last of Us might be, but this eclectic game certainly shines through all that murkiness with its polished and affecting narration and in that the game succeeds where many of its contemporaries failed. #7 Super Mario World (1991) Mario is a well-known name in the gaming world and selecting one game among its plethora of excellent ones as the topper is a certain challenge. Even so, the Super Mario World stands out because this one boasts of a game play that is extremely refined and hinges on a 16-bit technology that has been wowing players since long. That Super Mario World is popular till date indicates its timeless quality powered by visuals that are vibrant to say the least and superb plat former skills. As far as 2D games are concerned, Super Mario is above par and true to its name, is super! #6 BioShock (2007) A shooting success ever since its advent, BioShock’s popularity is not just because it is an RPG or a shooter. Indeed, this game has much more to offer avid players even as it presents them with a world beyond imagination in an FPS. A perfect blend of story and gameplay, BioShock allows players to manipulate all evil, right from booby traps to environmental hazards even as they get to listen to a philosophical discourse. And having heard that lecture, there would probably be no gamer in the world who would feel remorseful at having destroyed a drill-toting tank on two legs. #5 The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003) All games in the Zelda series have enjoyed huge popularity among avid gamers and The Wind Waker is no different. It possesses all the marks of a great gameplay- it boasts of a huge open world and contains many innovative weapons, imposing bosses and dangerous dungeons. But what takes The Wind Waker one step higher than other games in the Zelda series is the fact that its visual style and the lighthearted vibe it sends out make it the most loved game ever. For its above par graphics, cel-shaded design and a timeless quality, The Wind Waker is certainly a cut above the rest. #4 Shadow of the Colossus (2005) If you have been an ardent fan of games, you would know that their objective is for you, the hero to destroy the enemy. Keeping this objective in mind, most games arm their heroes to the tee with impressive and innovative weapons that can range from small hooks, to zooming rockets to mind-boggling magic spells. But the Shadow of Colossus begs to differ. In a gaming world where armaments reflect the advanced technology of the present times, this game offers gamers only a horse, a sword, a bow and a courageous heart to the gamer. Even so, the game has stolen the hearts of many for the way it creates a hero belonging to the fairy tales out of an ordinary you. #3 Super Metroid (1994) Super Metroid is a super serious game- at least that is the impression that it gives as the first notes of its title track emanate from the screen. This game from Nintendo is different from the lot for it is the first of its kind to employ cinematic presentation and pacing. Combined with a genuine directorial vision, the wholesome squeeze of technological tips and tricks that the game contains, make it a thing of true beauty- one that every avid gamer has admired time and again. To put it succinctly, Super Metroid for its beauty, graphics and superb gameplay is the gold standard in the Nintendo series. #2 Chrono Trigger (1995) If you have been a bookworm, you will realize that playing Chrono Trigger is not very different from reading a novel. Just as you can read a good book with a great story time and again, so it is with the Chrono Trigger because each time you play it, it has something new to offer you. The story is a time-travel tale that sends you and all other characters in all directions- you will pass through the Stone Age and an advanced future with all periods in between. And yet through all that travel, the game ensures that emotions remain well-conveyed. Even though the Chrono Trigger has only a 2D technology, its overall game play is such that it makes anything more advanced seem unnecessary. #1 Portal (2007) Portal is horrifying and yet it is humorous, it is sincere and yet it is diabolical and its characters are emotion-less robots and yet they make gamers feel for them. And it is this kind of contrasts that has made Portal the number game from Game Radar. In fact, its position is so strong that no one dares to topple it from the top! Portal is a genius of a game because of the way it blends verbal and nonverbal communication and brings together actors’ words and the game play. This game is truly a creative endeavor that has crafted a surreal tale that is yet real! Street Fighter IV. Ko rõ các bản trước sao, nhưng thật ko có gì để chê phần IV cả. Perfect fighting game.
